KUALA LUMPUR: Bersatu has regained control of its official Facebook page following a brief period of sabotage believed to be linked to the recent expulsion of deputy president Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin.
Bersatu Youth information chief Harris Idaham Rashid said four administrators suspected of the sabotage have been removed.
The four had full access to the page's content, permissions, and administrative functions.
The names of the four individuals have been withheld pending their comments.
The party's Facebook page drew social media attention on Friday after several posts surfaced attacking and trolling party president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.
In one post, the perpetrators ridiculed the party's capability to govern the country, questioning how Bersatu could run a nation when it could not manage its own social media presence.
The breach occurred just hours after Hamzah was sacked, triggering a series of posts on the verified page that criticised the top leadership and called for Muhyiddin to step down.
Harris said all administrators with access during the incident have since been stripped of their roles.
"Without disclosing the methods used, the four administrators were removed from all account access at 12.41am today.
"Management of the account has returned to Bersatu officials, he said in a statement." - NST
