Nation’s fuel supply stable, no shortages reported, says minister

Domestic trade and cost of living minister Armizan Mohd Ali urged the public not to engage in panic buying as fuel supplies are sufficient.

 Malaysia’s current supply of petrol, diesel and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) remains stable, with no shortages reported so far, says domestic trade and cost of living minister Armizan Mohd Ali.

He said the issues that have been raised so far were isolated logistical cases, which saw delivery delays of a few hours in certain locations, particularly during the festive season when demand increased.

“These issues have been addressed, and constant monitoring is ongoing to ensure smooth supply delivery,” he said on Facebook today after a courtesy call on Sabah chief minister Hajiji Noor.

Armizan urged the public not to engage in panic buying, as fuel supplies are sufficient.

“I would like to remind the public that the sale and filling of fuel outside vehicle tanks without a special permit is an offence.

“The ministry will take firm action against violators. The public is urged to report suspicious activity via the ministry’s complaint platform. Petrol station operators are also reminded to comply with regulations and report any violations to the authorities,” he said.

Bernama also reported that Hajiji stressed the importance of a consistent fuel supply to support the state’s economy, particularly the logistics, fisheries, and agriculture sectors, which rely heavily on diesel. - FMT
