Customer exploits unlimited rice refill by hoarding rice in a bag; theft or life hack?

GENEROSITY can be a powerful way to win people over. That is why some businesses employ it to gain customers, such as the all-you-can-eat buffet or free meals to sweeten a deal.

But when things are given out freely, expect some bad actors to ruin the experience for everyone else.

In a video post on X, netizen @akafaceUS shows a greedy customer in a restaurant exploiting the unlimited rice refill perk.

He could be seen asking for several refill, then scooping up the rice and placing it into a plastic bag hidden under the table.

Although it appears to be a smart move on hindsight, and selfish too, netizens were quick to point out the error of his ways—economically and ethically.

“Is that not stealing? I think the restaurant offers unlimited rice to eat in the restaurant and it’s not a to go home,” said netizen @Newlish25 while @electrode1215 added that the man found a good way to ruin a good thing.

Another netizen also highlighted the hygiene problem of stealing so much cooked rice.

Then there was a very observant @CentristAllWay pointing out the fact that the thief was wearing a Rolex.

But rice is cheap, and if he had to resort to stealing rice to survive, perhaps the Rolex is a fake? His Rolex might be a Lolex after all.

Also, netizen @xanderP0P said it wasn’t worth the effort, sitting there at the table for hours just to get $5 worth of unseasoned rice in a smelly plastic bag.

A quick check in the comment section revealed that the theft didn’t take place in Malaysia, but in the Philippines instead, or more specifically, a branch of Mang Inasal, as identified by a netizen.

Note that Mang Inasal, is a barbecue fast food restaurant chain with over 570 stores across the country.

Perhaps this video shall serve as a good wake up call to the managers out there to hire more proactive workers to deal with such ugly customers.

As for the thief with his bag of rice, we can only hope he gets a terrible food poisoning after eating his ill-gotten meal. —Focus Malaysia
