KUALA LUMPUR, April 24 — A moderate earthquake measuring 5.2 on the Richter scale was detected in the North Maluku Sea, Indonesia, at 12.45pm today.
The Malaysian Meteorological Department said in a statement the earthquake occurred 120km east of Bitung, Indonesia, at a depth of 10km.
However, a preliminary assessment found there was no tsunami threat to Malaysia. — Bernama
