KUALA LUMPUR: A multi-vehicle accident involving a car and several high-powered motorcycles has caused severe traffic congestion along the road towards Simpang Pulai near Cameron Highlands this evening.
According to information circulating on social media, the incident occurred at about 5.25pm near a bend after the Hobbitoon area.
Reports indicate that a white Toyota Vios collided with between four and five motorcycles.
The Simpang Pulai Fire and Rescue Station, when contacted, confirmed an accident in the stated area.
It said it received an emergency call at 5.47pm, and the rescue operation is still ongoing.
"We received an emergency call regarding an accident in the area but are unable to confirm the number of victims and vehicles involved at this time," it said.
In the same social media update at 5.49pm, traffic at the location remained severely congested, with motorists advised to exercise caution when approaching the area. - NST
