A video of Anwar singing while Anutin accompanied him on the saxophone was shared on Facebook yesterday by Thai politician Rachada Dhandirek, who described the performance as a reflection of the warm ties between the two leaders.
"A dear friendship despite the age difference.
"Deputy Prime Minister Anutin played the saxophone for Prime Minister Anwar, performing "My Way" at his invitation," she wrote.
Rachada said the performance took place during the official luncheon hosted by Anwar following their bilateral meeting.
According to Thai news portal Khaosod, the duet came after the leaders held bilateral talks and a joint press conference at the Prime Minister's Office.
The video quickly gained traction, drawing amused reactions from social media users in both countries.
One user, Chris Koh, quipped that the duo should join forces with Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong and form a band.
"They should join forces with Lawrence Wong and form a band," he said.
Other users highlighted the longstanding ties between Malaysia and Thailand, with one commenting that the two countries were close neighbours with intertwined histories.
Anutin is on a two-day official visit to Malaysia at Anwar's invitation for bilateral talks and to review the progress of relations between the two countries.
The visit includes witnessing the signing and exchange of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on agricultural cooperation, as well as jointly officiating the opening of a road linking the Immigration, Customs, Quarantine and Security (ICQS) Complex in Malaysia and the Customs, Immigration and Quarantine (CIQ) Complex in Sadao, Thailand, today.
