BATU PAHAT: What was marketed as an elite housing estate in Tongkang Pechah has become a source of frustration for many Maple Residence homeowners, who claim their houses are plagued by severe structural defects, including extensive cracks on internal and external walls.
Residents' representative S. Deeshalan, 30, said the developer had failed to address repeated complaints despite the issue affecting almost every house across phases one, two and three of the 360-home development.
"We urge the developer to take immediate action. This is a serious matter that requires an urgent investigation," he said.
Deeshalan said some homeowners had spent up to RM30,000 of their own money on structural repairs.
"Houses here are priced between RM400,000 and RM600,000, but the build quality falls far short of the price tag.
"Soil subsidence has forced some residents to demolish and rebuild the front sections of their homes. The problem started in phases one and two, but has now spread to phase three," he added.
He also raised concerns over poor maintenance, claiming rubbish was collected only once a month, despite residents lodging their initial complaints three months ago.
Residents are appealing to local authorities and their elected representatives to intervene and help resolve the issue.
