PN secretary-general says discussions have yet to begin but will take place in the near future.

“The negotiations may not be the same as those in Negeri Sembilan because each state is different and the distribution of seats is also different.
“For example, we do not have any seats in the state assembly, but we have parliamentary seats in Melaka.
“All these factors will form the basis of our discussions. Whether they want to retain 20 or 21 seats, including the Rembia state seat, whose assemblyman has also joined PAS, will also be discussed,” he said.
Tensions between Bersatu and PAS flared again after PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang claimed Bersatu had automatically ceased to be a PN member – an allegation that PN chairman Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar dismissed.
Takiyuddin also said PN was prepared to explain if called by the Registrar of Societies over the claim by Bersatu information chief Tun Faisal Ismail Aziz that PAS had repeatedly violated PN’s constitution and Supreme Council decisions, including by denying Bersatu’s rights as a component party.
When asked about reports that Pakatan Harapan (PH) had also held talks with Melaka BN, Takiyuddin said he had no information on the matter.
“I have no information and this issue has not yet arisen. We do not know whether it is true or not; you will have to ask Umno.
“If Umno says it is true, then it is something we will need to consider. It could also just be a political gimmick,” he said.
PH communications director Fahmi Fadzil yesterday said the coalition had held several discussions with BN on a possible pact for the Melaka polls, which are expected by the end of the year.
He said Melaka PKR chief Adam Adli had been in direct touch with state BN chairman Ab Rauf Yusoh to discuss seat negotiations for the state polls. - FMT
