PETALING JAYA:
Kepong MP Lim Lip Eng has offered a RM5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the suspect who allegedly set an elderly woman alight outside a lottery shop in Kuala Lumpur after dousing her with what police believe to be petrol.

In a statement, Lim said the incident was “an act of shocking cruelty” and that the person responsible must be found, arrested and made to face the full force of the law.

“To assist the police, I am offering a RM5,000 reward for credible information that directly leads to the arrest of the suspect,” he said.

He also urged members of the public not to approach or confront the suspect themselves.

Yesterday, Sentul deputy police chief Jasni Zolpa said the 62-year-old woman, who worked as an attendant at the premises, had been taken to Kuala Lumpur Hospital for treatment, where she remains in critical but stable condition.

He said the victim suffered burns to about 50% of her body.

The motive of the attack is still under investigation. Sentul police have launched a special operation to track down and arrest the suspect. - FMT
