2 tahfiz students charged with injuring another with iron

PARIT:

Two tahfiz school students were brought before the magistrates’ court here today on charges of injuring another student with an iron on Sept 19.

The students, aged 13 and 14, pleaded not guilty after the charges were read before magistrate Nurul Izalina Rajaai.

According to the charges, the students, acting together at 4pm on Sept 19, intentionally caused injury likely to cause death to another 13-year-old student by using an iron at a tahfiz school.

They were charged with causing hurt with a dangerous weapon under Section 324 of the Penal Code, which provides for imprisonment of up to 10 years, a fine, whipping, or any two of these punishments.

The case was handled by deputy public prosecutor R Jayasri while the accused were represented by National Legal Aid Foundation lawyer Nur Nadrah Badarudin.

The magistrate set bail at RM500 for each accused and fixed Oct 27 for mention of the case. - FMT
