Indonesian man arrested after wife found dead in Kalabakan

 The 38-year-old was nabbed after allegedly attempting to slit his throat with a sickle.

Tawau district police chief Rosdi Mat Jusoh said the man was arrested after his wife was found dead with injuries to her hands, head and neck.

An Indonesian man was arrested after his wife was found dead with injuries to her hands, head and neck at workers’ quarters in the Felda Umas 6 plantation, Jalan Kalabakan, here, on Monday.

Tawau district police chief Rosdi Mat Jusoh said the victim, a 37-year-old plantation worker, was pronounced dead at the scene by a medical officer at 8.15pm.

“The victim’s husband, a 38-year-old Indonesian national, was arrested following the incident after allegedly attempting to slit his throat with a sickle, causing injuries to his neck.

“He is currently receiving treatment at Tawau Hospital,” Rosdi said in a statement today.

He said the incident was believed to have stemmed from marital problems following the couple’s return from a holiday.

The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code and Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63.
