The bill will now move to the committee stage for further debate.

The bill was approved after finance minister II Amir Hamzah Azizan concluded his winding-up speech.
It will now move to the committee stage, where MPs will scrutinise and debate the proposed allocations for each ministry.
The committee stage is scheduled to begin on Monday and run until Nov 26, according to the Dewan Rakyat’s previously released schedule.
The bill must then pass its third reading before the Dewan Rakyat can pass it.
The budget, tabled by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim on Oct 9, provides for RM459.8 billion in federal spending, comprising RM376.8 billion in operating expenditure and RM83 billion in development expenditure.
Today’s smooth passage contrasted with October 2025 when a bloc vote was called and returned 120 votes in favour, 67 against and 35 MPs absent.
Hours before the vote, the government signed a confidence and supply agreement with six MPs from Bersatu and Muda. - FMT
