Kuala Muda police chief Hanyan Ramlan says the man was diagnosed with bipolar disorder nine years ago but he was believed to have discontinued his treatment two years ago.

Kuala Muda police chief Hanyan Ramlan said investigations found the man had been diagnosed with bipolar disorder nine years ago but was believed to have discontinued his treatment about two years ago.
“Police received a report on Tuesday following the video’s circulation. The man was arrested in Bandar Puteri Jaya, where the vehicle and several other items were seized,” he told reporters at the Kuala Muda district police headquarters here.
Hanyan said the man owned the MPV, held a valid driving licence and had no previous criminal record. His urine screening test was negative.
The case is being investigated under Section 170 of the Penal Code for impersonating a public servant and Section 42 of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless and dangerous driving.
The man was remanded for one day before being admitted to Sungai Petani Hospital for treatment and further monitoring.
Hanyan urged families to ensure members with a history of psychiatric illness attend their scheduled follow-ups.
The viral video showed the man driving recklessly and berating motorists who did not give way to him. - FMT
