Death row inmate S Prabagaran, 29, has been denied his final bid for a stay of his execution and would be hanged in Singapore tomorrow morning.
His lawyer N Surendran said the Singapore Court of Appeal delivered the verdict at 5pm today.
“That was the last avenue. The last hope. The stay of execution was on the grounds that the proceedings in Malaysia to refer Singapore to the International Court of Justice (ICJ) is still pending before our Malaysian Court of Appeal.
“But the Singapore Court of Appeal has rejected the stay application. This means nothing more can be done,” he told Malaysiakini when contacted.
Surendran had been representing Prabagaran with the proceedings in Malaysia and was present in the Singapore court when the verdict was delivered.
He said Prabagaran's family is currently seeing him for the last time at the court premises.
