FT PKR chief alleges that Umno's partners are bribed into showing unity.
“They’re receiving money in the form of bribes and so they keep their mouths shut,” he alleged. “They are like prostitutes who sell their dignity for money.”
Idris, who was speaking at a forum in Sri Rampai last night, was attempting to explain why some members of the public seemed to see BN as a more united coalition than Pakatan Harapan.
“Unfortunately, the government media has used this in order to make it seem as though we are not united,” he said.
“We may have different views on certain things, but we know who the real enemy is and we know our objectives.”
In a lengthy statement last month, PKR vice-president Rafizi Ramli disclosed that the party leadership had been split on the issue of ties with PAS since 2015.
Referring to negotiations with PAS on the subject of electoral cooperation, Rafizi listed the names of PKR leaders who favoured such talks and those opposing them.
He proposed a party congress aimed at putting the matter to rest and ending confusion among grassroots members.
PPBM President Muhyiddin Yassin also spoke at last night’s forum. Pleading for voter support for Pakatan, he said only a Pakatan victory in the coming general election could ensure the ouster of Prime Minister Najib Razak.
“We have exhausted all other avenues,” he said.
“I was in the government for 40 years and never has the country been in such dire straits as it now is under Najib.” -FMT
