Hamidah: Don’t link me to sister’s racist post

The PPBM vice president says the “Chinese step on us” statement by Hamizura is her personal view and not very nice but she has apologised.
hamidahPETALING JAYA: PPBM vice president Hamidah Osman has appealed to the public to stop linking her to the racist statement made by her younger sister yesterday as it could damage her credibility.
She said the statement that opposition supporters should not praise or let the Chinese step on Malays in the effort to topple Prime Minster Najib Razak was her sister Hamizura’s personal opinion.
“Hamizura is an ordinary member (of PPBM), she is my younger sister, but her view should not be linked to me. If she has made a mistake, then point the finger at her alone.
“When people linked Hamizura’s action to me, when I didn’t say anything, this could damage my credibility,” she told FMT today.
Yesterday, Hamizura apologised several hours after posting her racist comment on Facebook which received heavy criticisms.
Among those who took her to task was PPBM supreme council member Tariq Ismail who said the vision of the party was to revive the Malays and uphold their dignity based on promoting courtesy and etiquette in speech and actions.
Tariq pointed out that Malay rights existed to uphold Malay dignity, not to champion Malay supremacy.
“Malaysian Chinese are citizens of Malaysia and have the right to live in this country. We cannot deny that they have contributed to this country,” he said in a Facebook post.
Elaborating, Hamidah said she had chided her sister and advised her to be sensitive in voicing her views and not to repeat her mistake.
“I rebuked her as her sister. What she wrote is not nice. As Malaysians, we shouldn’t raise this kind of issue,” she added. -FMT
