YOURSAY | ‘Isn't this country is also known as Bolehland? Nothing surprises!’
Basically: Gasp! You mean, someone tried to "topple the democratically elected government" of Selangor?
As usual, ‘cakap tak serupa bikin’. Defections in Perak and Selangor are okay. But no-confidence vote against PM is considered treasonous, undemocratic, unpatriotic...
Headhunter: To attempt a coup now with the general election just around the corner would be sheer stupidity. It would only end up with a bigger majority for Harapan in the coming election, due to public anger as was what transpired in Perak.
Personally, I think they made a hugely embarrassing mistake this time. They misread what the people's reaction was going to be.
To their consternation, they found out that former Selangor MB Muhammad Muhd Taib (Mat Taib) is no Dr Mahathir Mohamad. Instead of a tiger, Najib caught a mouse.
Demi Rakyat: For PM Najib Razak, this is the only way Umno can take back Selangor and anyone out there who still believes that Mat Taib was the announcement, you are sorely mistaken.
All those who say that the coup doesn't make sense as it’s too close to GE14 don't understand what the outgoing/incumbent Selangor government can do and how much it can influence the process and outcome of the election. One good example is the use of government resources.
And how much money the government (then Umno) can use/give away then for its famous "I help you, you help me" and "cash is king" strategy?
If the crossover happened, we can say goodbye to Pakatan Harapan. More specifically, we can say goodbye to PKR since PAS will be already part of Umno.
Hank Marvin: Najib is panicking and even a spent force like Mat Taib is good enough for him. Anyway, since joining PAS and later PKR, Mat Taib has been unable to create a role for himself in these two parties.
To a certain extent, this also applies to former DPM Muhyiddin Yassin and perhaps Mat Taib has another problem and it can only be solved by returning to the Umno fold.
But Selangor MB Azmin Ali has a part here; he has created uncertainty and chaos in PKR, just like Abdul Hadi Awang has done in PAS.
These two leaders provided the push factor that ejected Mat Taib from PKR. Remember, he joined PKR as a result of de facto Anwar Ibrahim's invitation and the latter's position and stature has been undermined by Azmin lately.
Sarawakian: Defections seem to be the modus operandi of PKR, among others. Remember Anwar promising a deluge of ‘frogs’ from BN?
Anyway, Najib, if that’s the case, not making any announcement or even postponing the announcement would be more appropriate, don’t you think?
You look so stupid announcing the return of this “old newspaper” (former Selangor MB Muhammad Muhd Taib, and now it’s the talk of the town.
HaveAGreatDay: If it is ‘cerita dongeng’, PKR lawmaker Sim Tze Tzin, I am happy for you folks. Yet, the history of the Perak unscrupulous power grab should serve as a poignant reminder what Najib is capable of.
JD Lovrenciear: PKR, do not be so haughty. Amanah, it is better to know your true partners ahead of time.
In these politically desperate times, the human weakness to succumb to short-term gains is highly probable. After all, Najib is both ‘king of cash’ and ‘kingmaker’.
6th Generation Immigrant: Something did not turn out for Najib but definitely Mat Taib is in the thick of things along with Najib.
One can be sure that the rest of the upper echelon Umno leaders were clueless as well, as this was Najib's personal coup to claim.
Now that it did not happen, surely Mat Taib's second coming into Umno will not last too long. He could not, and did not, deliver.
The person who should bear the brunt of the rakyat's anger is Azmin himself. Notice that Najib did not invite BN leaders, but Umno stalwarts only.
So, it was most likely that "there was a covert plan" for only either or both PAS and PKR Malay Aduns (state representatives) to jump ship to join Umno in taking over Selangor.
A kick where it would have hurt for PKR. Azmin, PAS has thrown a pie at your face!
Hplooi: Apparently the alleged coup failed, not because the targeted MPs demur, but that the apex symbol has a deep bone with Mat Taib (he apparently eloped with a Selangor princess without royal permission).
Would it have succeeded if it was someone other than Mat Taib? Who knows? So, Azmin, don't smirk so fast and beware your PAS flank.
Middle Path: Isn't this country is also known as Bolehland? Nothing surprises anymore!
Anonymous 1719401496919916: Well, whoever forms the next government, nothing will change in Malaysia. You can be sure of that.
Malaysia is heading towards a failed state. Get out or get your kids out while you can. There is nothing left in this country for them, especially the minorities.
Najib just made a veiled threat to the Chinese community on Sept 16, Malaysia Day (very appropriate of him) and he had the audacity to call for unity.
He said if Malaysia descended into chaos, the Chinese will be the first to be targeted. Go to KiniTV to listen to his speech.
MCA said his speech was taken out of context. But what out of context are you talking about, MCA? The speech was recorded. Whatever Najib meant, you can decide for yourself.- Mkini
