Sultan Muhammad V met the governors of the tahfiz school to express his sympathy over the death of 21 students and two wardens-cum-teachers who perished in a fire at the school.
KUALA LUMPUR: Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Muhammad V yesterday visited the site of the fire which broke out at the Darul Quran Ittifaqiyah religious residential school in Jalan Keramat Ujung here.
The King arrived at the location about 10.20pm and was accompanied by Prime Minister Najib Razak and wife, Rosmah Mansor.
His Majesty was there for almost an hour during which he met the governors of the tahfiz school to express his sympathy over the incident.
A total of 21 students and two wardens-cum-teachers perished in the fire which occurred at 5.15am yesterday.
Twenty-two of the victims were buried at various locations in Kuala Lumpur, Negeri Sembilan and Perak, while another is scheduled for burial in Kelantan tomorrow morning. -FMT
