The MIC will ensure that the candidates for the 14th general election (GE14) will meet the characteristics desired by Prime Minister Najib Razak.
Its president, Dr S Subramaniam said the party had submitted its list of candidates to Najib, but it may change as it has yet to be finalised.
"We already have the list, but it can always change. We understand what the Prime Minister said, that is to identify credible candidates who are winnable to ensure us an easier win.
"Having candidates with good credibility has always been MIC’s prerequisite. Those that we propose are credible and winnable candidates,” he told reporters at a press conference after attending MIC's 71st general assembly at Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC) Kuala Lumpur that was officiated by Najib, who is also the BN chairman.
In the launching ceremony that was attended by 4,000 MIC members including 1,500 delegates, Najib had urged MIC to field quality candidates who are winnable, credible and accepted by all races in GE14.
Previously, Dr Subramaniam was reported to have said that MIC targetted to win seven parliamentary seats and 13 state seats from 28 seats that would be contested in GE14.
