PAS is singing Umno’s tune now, says Pua

He says any vote that goes to PAS in the coming general election will essentially be a vote in favour of Umno.

PETALING JAYA: PAS is now singing the same tune as Umno, in saying that a vote for Pakatan Harapan is a vote for DAP, Tony Pua said today.
The DAP national publicity secretary said this was the same message used by Umno previously, but now it is PAS saying it.
“Sooner or later people will be confused. They (Umno and PAS) look the same now. PAS is mimicking Umno.
“They are using the same Umno propaganda. So (if) a vote for PH is a vote for DAP, a vote for PAS is a vote for Umno.
“Any vote that goes to PAS in the coming general election will essentially be a vote in favour of Umno.”
He said PAS supporters seeking to defeat Umno should vote for PH in GE14.
Pua was speaking at a press conference here at the Selangor DAP headquarters today.
He was asked to comment on PAS Youth chief Muhammad Khalil Abdul Hadi’s statement that a vote for PH was akin to a vote for DAP.
Pua, in explaining further, said the statement that PH is dominated by DAP, especially party supremo Lim Kit Siang, does not hold water, and that one should just look at the PH leadership structure.
“Kit Siang is not even there. He himself said he wants to retire, and give way to younger people to take over.
“Where is this dominance by DAP? The top three positions are not occupied by DAP,” he said, calling it fake propaganda to scare the Malay Muslims.
Khalil reportedly said that DAP has a stranglehold on PKR, PPBM and Amanah, which are there as proxies.
“DAP’s actions clearly show it wants to be dominant in PH and will ultimately decide the direction of the pact.
“This reveals the fact that a vote for PH is a vote for DAP,” he said yesterday.
Selangor DAP committee member Edry Faizal said PAS was not promoting politics of maturity and prosperity, as claimed, but was instead being childish.
“PAS is very desperate to get the Malay votes as they have lost the non-Malay votes,” he said.
Meanwhile, on the 1MDB roadshow in Selangor, which will kick off on Sept 12, Pua said they will be focusing on areas where the coalition faced the biggest challenge in defending or winning seats.
The areas under focus are Taman Templer, Kuala Kubu Baru, Tanjung Sepat, Dusun Tua, Sungai Pelek, Teluk Datuk, Klang and Lembah Jaya.
“We want to trigger a wave in these village areas so as to get strong support for PH,” he said. -FMT
