Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak's opening statement during his meeting with US President Donald Trump has earned brickbats from his domestic critics.
"I want to say that we come here with a strong value proposition to put on the table.
"Number one, we want to help you in terms of strengthening the US economy," Najib told his US hosts at the White House cabinet room, according to official transcripts of the event.
Among others, Najib said Malaysia has committed to buying 25 Boeing 737 Max 10 and eight Boeing 787 Dreamliners.
Najib also announced that the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) seeks to invest US$3 to 4 billion to support "infrastructure redevelopment in the US."
However, several Malaysian personalities took to Twitter to suggest that Najib should focus on his own country's flagging economy, instead of helping an economic superpower.

When a leader go to another country, he'll bring investment to his own country. But @NajibRazak went all the way to give FDI to Trump. Nice
