Umno information chief Annuar Musa today urged his "friend" Zaid Ibrahim to apologise to Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah.
"I would like to advise Zaid, just apologise. Just ask for forgiveness as there was a basis in what the sultan had said. Have a big heart, we Malays have to respect the royal institution.
"He (Zaid) stays in Selangor, he should just go back to Kelantan if he does not agree (with the sultan). Build a big house and help people in Kelantan, don't make a living in Selangor," Annuar told reporters on the sidelines of the Umno general assembly at the Putra World Trade Centre today.
Annuar was echoing the call by the Selangor ruler who recently said that Zaid (photo) should return to Kelantan if he disagreed with his remarks against Bersatu chairperson Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
The sultan had recently remarked that Mahathir "will burn the whole country with his anger", following which Zaid had said the sultan should be more careful with his words.
"No one is immune when the country burns.
"When some rulers play politics, they must know the consequences. Don't think there's no price for partisanship," Zaid had tweeted.
Annuar, who is the Ketereh MP, said he had experienced a situation similar to Zaid and apologised to the Kelantan sultan.
