‘Hadi’s attack on DAP similar to Umno’s fear mongering’

PETALING JAYA: PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang’s broadside against the DAP is similar to the fear mongering by Umno that Malays would stand to lose if Pakatan Harapan comes to power.
Earlier this month, Umno president Najib Razak — at the Umno general assembly — had warned that Malays would lose their special rights if the opposition took over.
Umno has also in the past often claimed that PH would follow DAP’s lead.
In dismissing such fears, Amanah MP Mujahid Yusof Rawa said Hadi should not ignore the fact that DAP could not rule alone and needed the consent of its partners, namely Amanah, PKR and PPBM.
“If you combine these three parties, you will find that Malays will make up the most number of MPs and will form the next government,” he told FMT.
“Can’t Hadi do the math?”
The Parit Buntar rep was asked to comment on Hadi Awang’s claim that DAP could not run a clean government and should not aspire to have one of its leaders as prime minister as they were not Muslim.
“DAP cannot be a government that is clean and there are many reports about their irregularities.
“In fact, for DAP leaders to become the prime minister if the opposition front wins the 14th general election (GE14) goes against the reality in Malaysia, where the concept of an Islamic country means Islam must be in power,” he was quoted in Berita Harian as saying.
To this, Mujahid said this only showed that PAS has nothing new to offer and was following Umno’s footsteps in playing the race and religion card ahead of GE14.
Similarly, DAP’s Zaid Ibrahim said Hadi’s playing of the religious card was merely to gain votes.
The former law minister said both Hadi and Prime Minister Najib Razak had the same problem — they are afraid of losing in the upcoming general election.
“They are desperate to win, so they use religion.” -FMT
