Is Liow dumb or just playing dumb, asks Wong Tack

Wong-Tack-Liow-Tiong-Lai

PETALING JAYA: DAP’s former candidate for Bentong, Wong Tack has accused MCA president Liow Tiong Lai of being an Umno puppet.
This came after Liow was reported as warning Malaysians that it would be detrimental to the nation if DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang becomes prime minister.
Bernama quoted Liow as saying that Kit Siang was an unprincipled politician and clever at sowing discord.
“Only he knows if he has ambitions of becoming prime minister or deputy prime minister.
“I would say he is a politician who cannot be trusted and will cause racial disharmony,” Liow told reporters after attending a community event in Paloh.
Speaking to FMT, Wong said it was ironic that Liow was accusing Kit Siang of sowing racial discord, claiming this was exactly what Liow was doing.
“He was probably addressing the Malays in the crowd with only one intention: to racially manipulate the people,” he said.
“He is following the tongue of his Umno masters.”
Wong said for someone who was an MCA president, a minister and as a senior politician, Liow should know better than to play up the same statements Umno has been trying to use all this while.
“Either he is so dumb that he himself has swallowed the words that his Umno masters have been spewing or he is playing dumb.
“Someone like him should be sincere, matured and act more responsibly.
“If he, a political leader, really doesn’t understand the reality that there is no possible way for Lim Kit Siang to become the next prime minister, then it’s truly a sad state of events.”
He said Liow should start recognising that the next general election was not about any politician but about the people.
“The coming election is not about race, it’s not about Lim Kit Siang, it’s not about former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad, it’s not about the current Prime Minister Najib Razak, it’s not about him and it’s not about me.
“The election is about the people and our children.
“We’re in a critical time and Liow must recognise the failing of our institutions and the fall of our economy.”
In GE13, Liow, who is MCA president, won the Bentong parliamentary seat, but his opponent Wong won 49% of the votes, coming close to defeating Liow in the constituency. -FMT
