Jamal remanded for two days

Sungai Besar Umno chief Jamal Md Yunos has been remanded by police for two days.
The red-shirts leader was arrested last night shortly after the Umno general assembly ended.
The arrest was reportedly over threats he had made against former law minister Zaid Ibrahim, who is now a DAP member.
Dang Wangi district police chief Shaharudin Abdullah who confirmed the remand order, said Jamal was being investigated under Section 504 of the Penal Code, and Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act.
Section 504 of the Penal Code covers insult with intent to breach the peace and carries with it a prison term of up to two years and a fine.
Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act meanwhile covers insulting behaviour and is punishable with a fine of up to RM100.

On Friday, Jamal used a sledgehammer to smash cutouts of Zaid and warned that he would hunt down the latter if the authorities did not take action against the ex-minister.
Jamal had wanted police to take action against Zaid for courting the displeasure of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah.
Prior to the sledgehammer stunt, Jamal had also torched effigies of Zaid.
Zaid had lodged a police report over the stunts.
The Selangor sultan, in an interview with The Star that was published on Tuesday, had called Pakatan Harapan chairperson Dr Mahathir Mohamad an "angry" man who would raze the country.
Following this, Zaid tweeted that the Selangor ruler “should careful with his words”, and that “no one is immune when the country burns”.
His comment was slammed by Umno leaders but Zaid was adamant he had not done anything wrong.- Mkini
