The police will be questioning Senai DAP assemblyperson Wong Shu Qi this Friday, a week after she grilled Johor Menteri Besar Khaled Nordin over graft allegations.
"Police have asked me to assist investigations under section 203A of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act, (which is) believed to be in relation to a speech I made as assemblyperson in the Johor state assembly on Nov 28," Wong said in a press alert.
Wong in her speech alleged that Khaled had received RM12 million gratification from developers in return for altering the status of bumiputera housing lots.
The allegations were based on a leaked MACC witness statement uploaded by a blog.
Khaled (photo) has denied the allegation as baseless slander.
Section 203A of the Penal Code deals with the disclosure of information. The clause appears to be aimed at stemming unauthorised dissemination of information and has been criticised as a means to enable government cover-ups.
Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act deals with the improper use of network facilities.
The MACC has confirmed that the witness statement cited by Wong was indeed leaked, while Amir Shariffuddin Abd Raub - the man who gave the statement - lodged a police report claiming that the document was doctored.- Mkini
