In the last Umno general assembly before the 14th General Election, the party’s acting deputy president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has made a bold proclamation that the party will remain in control of Putrajaya.
"We will not turn back or retreat even for one step.
"Umno can't be defeated! BN can't be defeated! We will not let Putrajaya change hands!
"InsyaAllah, Putrajaya will remain in our hands, owned by Umno and BN!" Zahid exclaimed at the opening of the party wings assembly in the Putra World Trade Centre, Kuala Lumpur, tonight.
The current parliamentary term expires on June 26, 2018 which means that GE14 must be called within 60 days from that date.
GE14 is expected to be one of the most hotly contested elections in Malaysian history, with Umno facing an opposition led by its own former strongman Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
But whenever the elections are to be held, Zahid said Umno will be prepared.
"What is important is for us to have a winning mentality. This isn't just a concept, but requires conviction and action," he added.
Zahid also claimed that Umno was the greatest party compared to others, and still remains relevant.
He also reminded the aseembly that the party has also never been defeated in a general election.
"We are not boastful, definitely not arrogant. But this is fact which can't be refuted," he said.- Mkini
