Yoursay: And so now they sing Sheila Majid's song?

YOURSAY | 'Those from Umno can raise the issue of high costs of living, but not Sheila...'
Kosha: "I have to speak the truth even if it is bitter... Today the people lament the rising cost of living, many are in tears facing a seemingly uncontrolled rise in the price of goods,” said Umno delegate Rizalman Mokhtar at the party’s annual general assembly.
What singer Sheila Majid said was considered sensitive, and she was flayed left and right by the big bosses, but when Rizalman said the same thing, everyone cheered.
Falcon: A day after the staged attacks against Sheila, the truth that must be denied at all costs comes out from one within, and screams of “yes” reverberated across the hall.
What hypocrisy, what abuse of the truth.
Goldee: Those from Umno Baru can raise the issue of high costs of living, but when Sheila raised it, Umno members were very uncomfortable and their delegates condemned her for speaking the truth.
So the issue is not about whether Sheila is right or wrong, but because she is not a party member.
Bad Head: This Umno delegate should be sacked immediately - let him join the opposition. Who says Malaysians are facing high cost of living?
Umno ministers had just mentioned a few days ago that Malaysia's gross domestic product (GDP) is growing and people are happy with the Najib transformation programme.
But if Umno Malay members are having problems, then what about non-Malay Malaysians?
Hopelessly: Wow… Umno pockets are empty?
Anonymous 5312176544677: I just cringe at how a prime minister can think and make such statements as reported in this article.
Doesn’t the prime minister realise that he is the prime minister for the whole country, and not just for the states controlled by BN?
Doesn’t he realise that the people who are affected by the flood are citizens of the country? Doesn’t he feel the pain of the people who lost their homes and belongings? Even then, many of the citizens could be BN supporters who just happened to live in Penang.
With such a childish mindset, it is no wonder this country is going down the drain. How can such a leader ever lead this country?
He is probably smirking just to see an opposition leader in trouble. There is time for politics, and there is time to be a statesman - please take this as a free and friendly advice if one does not even know how to behave like a prime minister.
Anonymous 1058841433936091: Prime Minister Najib Razak, are you not heading the government of the country? As the federal government, it is your obligation to assist the rakyat in all states. What a shameful thing to say, PM.
On the one hand, you say you are a PM for the rakyat, that Umno is for all races, and now you taunt Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng and say he was in tears (over the flood disaster).
So, what you said earlier is not sincere? Shame on you, PM.
Ericncl: Helping one of the states is a social obligation. The Penangites are also taxpayers, they don't have the necessary assets at times of crises.
I am quite sure other countries would give a helping hand if Penang needs it. How would the federal government feel if others come and offer help?
Ozzie Jo: Najib, doing a good deed earns one 8 points; doing a good deed and then boasting about it earns you minus 10 points, which brings you to negative 2.
Doing a good deed and then mocking the unfortunate victims, minus 240 points.
That puts you, Najib, right about at negative 232 points.
Falcon: So Malaysiakini columnist Fa Abdul, you are saying we have one who makes speeches that contradict the teachings of Islam to a cheering and applauding a hall full of Muslims that actually brings shame and ridicule to all godly, peaceful, caring, pious Muslims outside that hall and across the globe?
Hopelessly: Wake up, Fa. Dirty politicians do not fear god. Greed trumps god, it's that simple.
Anonymous: Penang was not allowed to form its own civil defence group. It was deemed illegal by the courts. How is the state to get extra help when disaster come knocking?
Clever Voter: We have taken the infringement of personal liberty too far. There should be proper respect for privacy.
Allegations of teachers checking on students' monthly periods goes to show the sort of priorities the teachers hold. It's fine to ensure students adhere to the strict prayers routine, but the thought of physical invasion is totally unacceptable.
Doesn't that tell us something about the negative trend society is heading?
Anonymous_4115: Why must the teachers touch their students? Isn't this harassment? Why can't they take the students' words for it?
Hopelessly: Our country is filled with power-hungry homosapiens who believe they are empowered by government and gods to do anything they want.
Things like this really have to stop. No one should have to go through such humiliation for any reason, religion or not.- Mkini
