Yoursay: How can malapportionment of voters be considered as normal?

YOURSAY | How can a rush to complete the redelineation exercise be called impartial, independent or neutral?
Drngsc: “The process is entirely normal, free from political interference and managed by the independent EC,” said PM’s aide Tengku Sariffuddin Tengku Ahmad.
This must be a joke. The Election Commission is probably the least non-independent and most biased public body in the country now. Many of the electoral boundaries drawn are against the Federal Constitution.
And Tengku Sariffuddin knows that.
Quigonbond: How can malapportionment of voters be considered as normal? How can a rush to complete the redelineation exercise be called impartial, independent or neutral?
Even primary school kids can smell how partisan this exercise is.
Wong Fei Hoong: Yes, the redelineation exercise is clearly an attempt help Umno in the coming GE14.
However, it will also spell the end of other non-Umno BN component parties like MCA, Gerakan and MIC as these parties stand no chance to capture Chinese- and Indian-majority seats.
HaveAGreatDay: It is so heart-breaking that by all accounts, the EC will succeed in padding the electoral rolls in favour of Umno before GE14.
If what the EC is doing is above board, its actions will stand up to independent international scrutiny. But it can't, and that's why this wagging dog is barking away.
TikusMati: Even when a daylight robbery occurs, these people will claim otherwise. That is the culture of Umno.
Democrat: The EC is independent? Free from political interference? Where is this man from? Mars?
It was 2-1 decision at the Court of Appeal on Monday (which allowed the EC's bid to remove a stay order imposed by the High Court that prevented the commission from completing its redelineation exercise in Selangor).
So is this man saying the dissenting judge does not know her law? Or is he smarter than the High Court judge?
Ipoh PP: This man has to “sing for his supper”. What do you expect his statements will be?
Goldee: Activist and former lawyer Fadiah Nadwa Fikri said that voting is not the only way to have a voice or to effect change, and believing that it does, would degrade a person’s humanity down to the act of voting.
What nonsense is she talking about? Maybe we should ask her what she has done thus far to bring change to the corrupted system?
Anonymous 1058841433936091: It has not been easy to be the opposition in this country. People have to recognise this aspect of the situation and understand it. We, as the rakyat, do not have many choices.
It is either Barisan Nasional, Pakatan Harapan or PAS. I will still come out to vote and vote Harapan because I think for all the awakening that they have done, they deserve to be given a chance to see what they can do for Malaysia.
Further, I think BN has to be given a chance to think about why they have lost. BN talks a lot but they have not changed for the better. For example, just look at how they handled Sheila Majid's Twitter remark.
Ghost Rider: What kind of stupid thinking is this - to even consider abstaining from voting? You can go off-the-grid physically, but never politically.
As soon as the policymakers know you don't support them, you are their animal to do what they like. Every citizen has a responsibility to make the country better for themselves through the voting process in a democracy.
If we do not, we might not even get to hold such seminars or conversations in the future. Think about that.
Negaraku: Harapan is in big trouble. DAP especially needs their Chinese base which they have cultivated using Anwar Ibrahim in 2008.
During the last two elections in 2008 and 2013, this base brought them to heights they never, ever dreamed of, but they keep thinking that this base will be there for them perpetually.
No can do, this base had expected something in return and has now waited almost 10 years; and soon - if not by this upcoming elections (GE14) then certainly by the next - they will start to fall from 95 percent next to perhaps 70 percent and then to 50 percent and will continue to dwindle; that is why DAP’s Subang Jaya assemblyperson Hannah Yeoh and her gang are hard at work.
However, trying to make up for lost time at the eleventh hour is certainly never going to work.
Spinnot: The public should vote for PSM. Unlike in the past, there are thieves and racists in both the two main coalitions.
Even their trolls have no class at all; obviously they are from a mentality that lacks a sense of culture. So maybe after a five-year break from being elected, these BN and Harapan politicians will learn to behave more professionally.
Ipoh PP: When you don't go out to exercise your right to choose, you are shirking your responsibility. It is like a person who wants to enjoy the fruits but doesn't want to put in hard work to climb the tree.
Anonymous 788831449650206: What is important is for it to be announced that the Harapan candidate for prime minister will be Anwar with Dr Mahathir Mohamad merely as the temporary PM.
It must also be announced that Harapan will dismantle all political control of the media and political control of the appointments and promotions to the judiciary as soon as it comes to power.
Hplooi: Keeping Mahathir in check is a far more practical possibility than keeping the Umno kleptocrats in check.
The Umno juggernaut - if it is still left unchecked - will bring to power an even bigger kleptocrat who will go on to create an ever more entrenched political system (by learning from the experience of Malaysian Official 1) where no checks and balances will be in place.- Mkini
