DAP member Zaid Ibrahim will be investigated under the Sedition Act and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission Act for allegedly disrespecting the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah on his Twitter account.
Inspector-general of police Mohamad Fuzi Harun confirmed that he has received reports on the case.
He was speaking to reporters after launching the Malaysian Pengaman Foundation’s ‘Tabung Prihatin Pengaman’ today, to raise funds to help staff, families and police pensioners.
Meanwhile in Shah Alam, Selangor police chief Mazlan Mansor said a police report on Zaid’s statement was made in Kuala Lumpur yesterday.
"Investigations on the report will be carried out by Bukit Aman," he told reporters after attending the Maulidul Rasul ceremony at the Selangor police contingent headquarters in Kuala Lumpur today.
Zaid in his Twitter account on Tuesday had disputed Sultan Sharafuddin, among others, over his criticism of former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad over the latter’s insulting remarks against the Bugis.
