Sepang MP Mohamed Hanipa Maidin collapsed midway through Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad's monthly speech to the civil service at the Prime Minister's Office in Putrajaya today.
Hanipa, who is the deputy minister in the Prime Minister’s Department for legal affairs, was standing at the edge of the stage, along with a line-up of ministers, prior to fainting.
About five minutes into Mahathir’s speech, Hanipa collapsed onstage before falling off the roughly half-metre stage, landing head first onto the tile floor of the square.
The crowd reacted with shock and Mahathir briefly paused his speech while the other ministers went to check on Hanipa.
Hanipa, who is the Sepang MP, suffered a stroke and underwent surgery for brain haemorrhage in 2016.
