SOMETHING IS AMISS WITH IGP’S LATEST PROBE INTO ALTANTUYA MURDER – IS IT BECAUSE MUSA SAFRI IS ONE OF THEIR OWN: RAMKARPAL SHOCKED & WORRIED INVESTIGATIONS NOT CONDUCTED PROPERLY

LAWYER Ramkarpal Singh, who represents the family of murdered Mongolian Altantuya Shaariibuu, said he has yet to be officially informed that police have already completed their reinvestigation into the case.
Attorney-General Tommy Thomas had only last month ordered for the investigations into Altantuya’s death to be reopened.
Ramkarpal said that he had only found out about the completed probe through the media today, and expressed concerns that such a short investigating period might not have been exhaustive enough to cover all aspects of the case.
“That is, unless the previous investigation had already revealed who had ordered the murder,” he told The Malaysian Insight.
“The investigation cannot simply be done to satisfy calls for the case to be reopened. It has to have substantive results,”   he said.
Earlier today, Inspector-General of Police Mohamad Fuzi Harun told the media that authorities have finished the reopened probe and submitted the investigation papers to the Attorney-General’s Chambers
Ramkarpal said the Attorney-General’s Chambers has yet to contact his law firm.
“I also learned about it through the news. We will take the necessary steps to enquire about the completed probe,” he said.
Fuzi had said statements have been taken from key witnesses, including Altantuya’s father Dr Setev Shaariibuu.
Altantuya, a translator, was killed in Shah Alam in 2006. After she was shot dead, her body was blown up with military-grade C4 explosives.
The reason for the gruesome killing was never established, but two former policemen Sirul Azhar Umar and Azilah Hadri were found guilty for the crime and sentenced to death in 2015.
Azilah is on death row at the Kajang prison while Sirul is held at an Australian immigration detention centre.
Political analyst Abdul Razak Baginda, who was a close advisor to former prime minister Najib Razak and was said to be in a relationship with Altantuya, was charged with abetment in the murder but he was freed without being told to enter a defence.
Last month, Setev met attorney-general Tommy Thomas and prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad in Putrajaya to call for a reopening of investigations into his daughter’s murder.
The meeting led the new Pakatan Harapan government to direct the case to be reinvestigated.
