PETALING JAYA: The candidates for the role of Parliament speaker have been shorlisted, says Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah.

The Deputy Prime Minister was quoted by The Malay Mail as saying that the list of candidates was now with Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

“Ultimately, the decision is up to him to choose the Speaker,” she added.

The first meeting of the first session of the 14th Parliament is set to convene from July 16 to Aug 16.

The speaker for the previous session was Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia.
