PETALING JAYA: Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad paid his last respects to deceased fireman Muhammad Adib Mohd Kassim.
The premier and Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali were at the Subang airport, where Muhammad Adib's body was being flown to SK Tebengau, Kuala Kedah in Kedah.
"PM @chedetofficial beri penghormatan terakhir kepada jenazah Allahyarham Muhammad Adib di Airod Subang (Prime Minister paying last respect to the late Muhammad Adib at Airod Subang)," Bernama tweeted on its Twitter account.
It also included a short seven-second clip of Dr Mahathir, Dr Siti, Muhammad Adib's parents as well as other Fire and Rescue Department personnel seeing his body being flown off to Kedah.
The 24-year-old succumbed to his injuries after being seriously injured during last month’s Seafield Sri Maha Mariamman Temple riots.
He passed away at 9.41pm at the National Heart Institute (IJN) on Monday.
Upon hearing the news of Muhammad Adib's demise, Dr Mahathir, last night, tweeted “I am very sad to receive this news. May his soul be placed among the righteous. Takziah to the family of Allahyarham Muhammad Adib on his passing. Al-Fatihah."- Star
