SABAH DUN | The Dewan Rakyat will issue a final reminder to Sipitang MP Yamani Hafez Musa for him to take his oath of office immediately.
Dewan Rakyat Speaker Mohamad Ariff Md Yusof said Yamani Hafez needed to be sworn in as a Member of Parliament before he is disqualified.
"Several letters reminding him to take his oath of office were sent to him but there was no response ….now it is up to (the) Sipitang (representative),” he said.
Mohamad Ariff said Yamani Hafez had asked for oath-taking via video conferencing but was rejected as there was no such provision, adding that he must be sworn in by mid-January.
Of the total 222 MPs, 220 took their oath of office in the Dewan Rakyat at the first day’s sitting of the first meeting of the first session of the 14th Parliament.
The reason for the absence of Yamani Hafez, 39, who is the son of former Sabah chief minister Musa Aman, to take his oath and where he is currently, is still a mystery.
