PETALING JAYA: Umno Youth is calling for the Attorney General to charge Ministers P. Waytha Moorthy, M. Kulasegaran, Gobind Singh Deo and Dr Xavier Jayakumar, as well as Selangor executive councillor V. Ganabatirau, over the death of firefighter Muhammad Adib Mohd Kassim.
Umno Youth chief Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki said the five Indian leaders should be charged under Section 504 of the Penal Code for intentional insults with intent to disrupt the peace.
“Umno Youth once again urges P. Waytha Moorthy to resign as the Unity and Social Well-being Minister because not only did he fail to clear racial tensions, he flamed the anger of the Indian community by blaming the police over the fracas at the Sri Maha Mariamman temple, leading to violent riots on the second night,” he said.
Dr Asyraf said as administrative members of the government, these ministers should avoid using racial sentiments in their statements.
“Umno Youth wants the investigation and prosecution to be done transparently, fairly and without bias.
“Not only must justice be done, it must also be seen to be done,” Dr Asyraf said in a statement Tuesday.
Umno Youth also urged the public to stay calm and avoid from igniting any racial or religious sentiments that could further exacerbate the situation.
Muhammad Adib, 24, passed away at 9.41pm at the National Heart Institute (IJN) on Monday (Dec 17).
His remains were brought back to his hometown in Kampung Tebengau, Kedah, for the funeral on Tuesday.- Star
