The haemorrhage of Umno MPs continues as five more have announced their departure from the BN component party.
They are former domestic trade, cooperatives and consumerism minister and Larut MP Hamzah Zainudin, Hulu Terengganu MP Rosol Wahid, Mersing MP Latiff Ahmad, Tasek Gelugor MP Shabudin Yahaya, and Sabak Bernam MP Mohd Fasiah Mohd Fakeh.
Shabudin confirmed this development with Malaysiakini.
The five, along with Tanah Merah MP Ikmal Hisham Abdul Aziz, had sent a letter dated today to Umno secretary-general Annuar Musa stating their decision, but did not include reasons for it.
This brings the total number of Umno MPs to 38, down from its initial batch of 54 just after the 14th general election. -Mkini
