PKR’s Rafizi Ramli and Nurul Izzah Anwar recently had lunch with Umno MP Khairy Jamaluddin to “catch up” on current national issues.
Former Pandan MP Rafizi said the meet-up at an undisclosed location, was casual and with no fixed agenda, adding that the trio had agreed to continue meeting on a regular basis.
“It’s nothing much, just a casual chat. It just means we should focus on things in common,” he told The Malaysian Insight.
This morning, Rafizi posted on Instagram a picture of the three politicians after their lunch date.
“Casual lunch every now and then. This means we don’t need to be enemies even though we have different views, as long as the goal is to help the people.
“We take turns to arrange (meet-ups). We make a point to catch up,” he said.
Nurul Izzah also said there was nothing wrong with meeting Khairy, who is former Umno Youth chief, even though he had differing views.
“The room for discussion in reaching the middle ground is of great importance to Malaysia,” the Permatang Pauh MP told The Malaysian Insight.
“The willingness of Khairy Jamaluddin to meet us even though we’re from different parties is very meaningful in proving the boldness and sense of solidarity for the sake of Malaysia,” she said.
