KUALA LUMPUR: Barisan Nasional (BN) MPs staged another walkout from the Dewan Rakyat today after failing to get an apology from RSN Rayer (PH-Jelutong) for asking if MIC’s C Sivarraajh had a stay order from the court.
They walked out after Deputy Speaker Mohd Rashid Hasnon ordered Tajuddin Abdul Rahman (BN-Pasir Salak) and Bung Moktar Radin (BN-Kinabatangan) to leave the house for failing to listen to the speaker.
The chaos began almost immediately after Sivarraajh entered the Dewan Rakyat.
In a shouting match which lasted for about 20 minutes, Tajuddin and Bung Moktar repeatedly asked Rayer to apologise, saying he did not have good intentions in raising the matter.
Proceedings were brought to a temporary halt in the midst of the debate on the Finance Bill 2018 (second reading).
Rashid was forced to switch off the mic as other BN MPs joined in the argument, some of whom said it was unfair that Rayer was not asked to apologise.
Words like “kurang ajar” (ill-mannered) and “stupid” were also heard.
Rashid asked the MPs to calm down, saying the matter had been settled after Speaker Mohamad Ariff Md Yusof’s ruling earlier this morning that Sivarraajh could remain in the hall.
Ariff had said a decision on Sivarraajh’s status as MP for Cameron Highlands would be made by the Federal Court once the latter hands in his appeal within the stipulated timeframe of 14 days.
“Cameron Highlands is still considered an MP until his appeal is over and a decision is made by the Federal Court,” he said.
