PETALING JAYA: Datuk R. Sri Sanjeevan was detained and charged in connection with an article he posted on his blog three years ago.
The 34-year-old chairman of the deregistered Malaysian Crime Watch Task Force was detained at a house in Country Heights, Kajang, at about 12.25pm on Monday (Dec 17).
Bukit Aman Commercial Crimes Investigation Department (CCID) acting director Deputy Comm Datuk Saiful Azly Kamaruddin said Sanjeevan was arrested as he had posted a copy of a police report in the article entitled “Penyelewengan Wang Kerajaan Dalam PDRM” (Misappropriation of government funds in PDRM).
“He had uploaded the article on his blog (https://srisanjeevanr.blogspot.my/) in November, 2015.
Those found guilty can be jailed up to one year, and fined not more than RM1mil, or both.
DCP Saiful Azly said Sanjeevan was charged at the Petaling Jaya Sessions Court on the same day.
“He was granted a RM5,000 bail with one surety,” he said.
The next mention of his case has been set on Feb 8.- Star
