NAJIB Razak has flayed a plan by the Education Ministry to include the 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) scandal into the history syllabus, saying that the move would politicise the education system.
“There is a time and place for us to politicise, not in schools,” the former prime minister wrote in a Facebook post.
“Don’t make use of our young children, don’t jeopardise their future.”
Najib then took a dig at Education Minister Maszlee Malik performance, saying that “I think that before long, Maszlee himself will enter the history books”.
Maszlee had said in Parliament today that apart from the multi-billion-dollar 1MDB scandal, kleptocracy will be included as part of the syllabus.
“I will make sure that 1MDB and how some leaders robbed the nation will be included in the history books so that future generations will not make the same mistake,” he said.
Najib is currently facing dozens of corruption and money-laundering charges linked to the 1MDB state fund.
He has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
