Tok Mat: Umno MPs accept new leadership, no more defections

Acting Umno president Mohamad Hassan (above) believes that the spate of defections by Umno's lawmakers has ended.

"I have met them and from what they are saying, they are satisfied (with the new arrangement). They are comfortable with the decisions of the current leadership," said Mohamad after chairing his first Umno supreme council meeting today.

Mohamad was made acting party leader after elected Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi went on leave, after being blamed for a string of defections this month due to disagreements over his leadership style.

Umno presently has 36 MPs, down from 54 immediately after the May 9 elections.
