Waytha: I declared my cars, but MACC didn't consider them assets

Minister in the Prime Minister's Department P Waythamoorthy said today that he had already declared his ownership of two cars to the MACC, but that these were not considered assets by the commission.
"I wish to clarify that my asset declaration to the MACC was submitted on Oct 10. I had included my two cars as part of the declaration.
"My office had sought clarification from the MACC as to the reason why my asset declaration column was left blank in the list of ministers who had submitted their declarations, which is open for public viewing.
"I was informed that MACC does not regard cars as assets, thus the blank column," he said in a statement today.
Yesterday, Waythamoorthy was asked why there was no information on his asset declaration on the MACC asset declaration website
The Hindraf leader responded by saying he had expended all his assets in his struggle for the Indian community.
Subsequently, BN-linked blogs published details of his two cars, claiming that he had failed to declare them.
The cars are a 10-year-old Nissan Cefiro and a six-year-old Toyota Camry. - Mkini
