PETALING JAYA: Haziq Aziz is to appeal against his expulsion from PKR last week after allegations of being involved in sex with the party’s deputy president Mohamed Azmin Ali.
He said he wished that his allegations of corruption levied against Azmin be investigated.
In an online posting this evening, he said: “I respect the decisions that have been made by the party but I will appeal regarding the dismissal of my membership.
“I was punished just because I urged the MACC (Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission) to investigate the corruption charges thrown against DS Azmin Ali. It’s not that I accused DS Azmin Ali without evidence. I just urge the charges be investigated because the people deserve to know the truth.”
On Wednesday, PKR president Anwar Ibrahim said the decision by the party’s disciplinary board was accepted unanimously by the political bureau.
The expulsion was on the grounds that Haziq, a divisional youth leader, had gone against the ethical code as a party member, mainly by openly accusing a party leader of corruption without giving evidence.
Police have said that investigations were being held to ascertain the authenticity of the sex video in which Haziq has admitted appearing. - FMT
