IGP: Azmin could face arrest, but investigation still ongoing

MELAKA: Economic Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Azmin Ali could be arrested over the controversial sex video, says Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Abdul Hamid Bador (pic).

However, he said the decision to arrest Azmin would be under the prerogative of the Attorney-General Chamber after the submission of investigation papers by his officers.

“The matter is being handled by the investigation team. Let them do their job.

“We won't suppress anyone or treat them unfairly as our investigation is line with the rule of law,” he said at opening the AGM of tow associations at a hotel here on Wednesday (July 24).

Abdul Hamid said the sex video was a very sensitive issue and his men needed time to thoroughly complete their probe.

“I would like to state again that I, as the IGP, wouldn’t like to be involved in any political polemic, except if someone accused me (without basis),” he said, referring to the claims made by Umno Supreme Council member Datuk Lokman Noor Adam that the IGP lied about the authenticity of the video.

Lokman had recently alleged that forensic experts in Indonesia had confirmed the authenticity of the video recording, saying that there was no evidence of it being manipulated or edited.

Abdul Hamid said a police report has been lodged against Lokman, and he would let the police investigate this.

“Let the police probe the report,” he said.- Star
