PKR leadership presents united front, endorses leadership of Anwar

PKR leaders have come out with a strong endorsement of the leadership of party president Anwar Ibrahim.

All 120 leaders who attended the leadership council in Port Dickson signed a resolution giving him their backing. This included members of the party's Central Executive Council, as well as its MPs, Senators and state assemblypersons.

"We are committed to strengthening PKR as a multi-racial party based on the principles of the constitution and ensuring that the Pakatan Harapan manifesto is applied.

"We hereby give full support to party president Anwar to lead the party to be the cornerstone of Pakatan Harapan, in line with all the provisions as contained in the party's constitution," read the statement.

120 out of the 140 invited members were present. Notable absentees included party deputy president and Economic Affairs Minister Azmin Ali, Housing and Local Government Minister Zuraida Kamaruddin and Works Minister Baru Bian.

"We have talked honestly, openly, and have reached a joint resolution.

"The programme is a thoughtful leadership platform, rejuvenating the idealism of the struggle, strengthening the discipline and unity of the party, re-evaluating a year's service as a federal government and how Pakatan can move forward," said the PKR leadership.

PKR secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution said they will forward the resolution to the remaining 20 people who were absent, to take a look and sign if they want to.

Anwar also stressed that the absent 20 people will be given space to examine the resolution first. - Mkini
