Roads around Bukit Jalil stadium to close on Saturday (July 27) for FA Cup final


KUALA LUMPUR: Police have announced road closures and diversions around Bukit Jalil National Stadium this Saturday (July 27) for the 2019 FA Cup final match between Perak and Kedah.
City police chief Comm Datuk Seri Mazlan Lazim said that around 85,000 people are expected to attend the match.
"Around 1,375 police personnel will be stationed in and around the stadium to maintain security and control the flow of traffic.
"We will begin stationing our men in the area from 8am onwards," he said to a press conference at city police headquarters on Thursday (July 25).
Those not attending the match are advised to stay away from the area to help decrease traffic congestion.
"For those attending, please follow all instructions given by traffic police. Please come early and use public transportation or carpool if possible.
"Security checks will also be conducted at all entry points into the stadium and contraband like flares, fireworks, laser pointers, alcohol, umbrellas, sticks, sharp objects and weapons will be confiscated," he said.
He added that cars parked indiscriminately on the roadside or curb will be fined or towed.
The roads affected by the closures are Jalan Barat, Jalan Merah Chagar, Jalan Awan Kecil, and the area around Technology Park Malaysia.- Star
