Syabas: Water treatment plants back in operation at 3.30am

Selangor Water Supply Company Sdn Bhd has confirmed that the Sungai Selangor Water Treatment Plant Phase 1, Phase 2 and Phase 3 and the Rantau Panjang Water Treatment Plant were back in operation at 3.30am this morning.
This came the company was forced to shut down the four water treatment plants supplying water to the Klang Valley between 6pm to 8.15pm yesterday due to diesel contamination of raw water at Sungai Selangor.
That shutdown itself came just a day after operations of the water treatment plants were restored following an earlier incident of odour pollution suspected to be due to discharge from workshops near Sungai Liam in Batang Kali.
"We are still in the process of improving and stabilising the pool and pressure levels in the distribution system for the water recovery process in stages," said Syabas Head of Communications & Communications Relations Department Abdul Raof Ahmad.
Syabas said that water tankers deployed to help areas with critical shortages are geared towards critical premises and vulnerable areas.
"Since this incident involves large scale disruption to the water supply, customers are advised to seek support for assistance at local service centres to avoid delays in receiving water tankers' assistance," said Syabas.
To avoid overcrowding at its call centre due to high call incentives, the company requested companies to get the latest information and status updates via the Air Selangor mobile app, www.syabas.com.my website, Facebook "Air Selangor" and Twitter @air_selangor.
Syabas also said it would notify consumers through regular media updates. - Mkini
