"To ensure food is not wasted, there will also be a zero waste campaign,” Jawi director, Mohd Ajib Ismail, told Bernama Friday (July 5) about the celebration which will bring together 75 mosques and 10 surau from Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Labuan.
It is being organised in partnership with Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL), the Information Department (Japen), Islamic Development Department (Jakim), Federal Territories Ministry, Federal Territories Islamic Council (MAIWP) and Royal Malaysia Police.
Mohd Ajib said the event is not merely aimed at strengthening ties between Muslims, but also people from different faiths and communities with a message of kindness, peace, harmony, friendliness, going green and respect as prescribed under the concept of Masjid Rahmah.
"Street Raya is a platform to elevate the mosque as an institution through the introduction of mosque and surau programmes which have had an impact on the development of the ummah and society," he said.
