Being a leader of a society, a member should know what needs to be complied with.

If any registered society had violated its own society's constitution or any provisions of the Societies Act, the Registrar of Societies has every right to de-register the said society after investigations and due notice.

Resorting to threats is really unbecoming of an MP and former Deputy Prime Minister.

Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, having been a Deputy Prime Minister should know that laws, rules and regulations are meant to be obeyed and respected at all times.

To claim ignorance of the law now is of no excuse.

The fact is, UMNO had not adhered to its own party constitution by not holding its top party elections and general assembly after being granted a first waiver to postpone its party elections and general assembly as provided for by its own UMNO constitution. After the first waiver, UMNO trys to claim for a second waiver for the second time to postpone its party elections and general assembly which clearly contravenes its own UMNO party constitution. Since UMNO failed to convene its party elections and general assembly as per the stipulated time, UMNO is deemed an "illegal" political party.

Rather than accepting full responsibility for not abiding to the party's constitution, Zahid Hamidi resorts to threats and is trying to hoodwink the UMNO members and general public that the present Pakatan Harapan government is abusing its position to de-register UMNO.

The records have to be set correctly. Officials of UMNO then and now (most are previous UMNO office-bearers too) had violated the UMNO's own party constitution. 

The Registrar of Societies has NO OPTION but to deregister UMNO. That is the LAW and no one except the UMNO officials have to take full blame and accept the outcome.

Zahid Hamidi is facing more that 50 charges in Court and if he is found guilty, he will automatically be disqualified to hold office of President of UMNO. - Mohd. Kamal Abdullah
